After the discovery of a new variant of the coronavirus on British territory, around fifty countries have since Sunday suspended the arrivals of travelers from the United Kingdom.

The restrictions, which were eased on Wednesday by France, Belgium, the Netherlands and the Czech Republic, have extended to other areas where the new strain has been detected, such as Denmark or South Africa.

The United Kingdom has itself restricted arrivals from the latter country, after identifying cases of another variant of the virus originating there.

France and Belgium

On December 20 at midnight, France suspended all travel of people from British soil, Belgium air and rail links.

From Wednesday, possible return of nationals of the two countries, and residents on their territory or in the European area.

France, which requires a negative test for the coronavirus and the variant, also authorizes the return of heavy truck drivers of all nationalities.

Netherlands

The suspension of passenger flights and ferries from the UK, and flights from South Africa, ends Wednesday.

All arrivals must present a recent negative test.

Germany (until January 6)

Suspension of "train, bus, boat and plane" connections with the UK and South Africa.

Entry ban for people arriving from these two countries.

Italy (until January 6)

Suspension of flights from the United Kingdom.

Entry prohibited to people who have stayed there during the last 14 days.

Mandatory test for anyone already in Italy coming from this territory.

Spain (until January 5) and Portugal (since Tuesday)

Suspension of flights from the United Kingdom, and maritime links to Spain.

Ireland (until December 31)

Suspension of air links with Great Britain.

Luxembourg (until January 3)

Suspension of scheduled passenger flights to and from the UK.

Nordic countries

Norway, Denmark (48 hours since Monday): suspension of flights from the United Kingdom.

Sweden is extending the suspension of flights to and from the UK until December 31.

It closed its border with Denmark.

Finland (until January 4): suspension of passenger flights from the United Kingdom.

Rest of europe

Switzerland (until further notice): interruption of air links with the United Kingdom and South Africa.

Ten-day quarantine for anyone coming from these two countries since December 14.

People domiciled in the United Kingdom or South Africa will nevertheless be able to return home from December 24.

Austria (at least until January 1): suspension of flights from the United Kingdom.

Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania: suspension of flights from the United Kingdom.

Bulgaria, Romania (two weeks from Monday afternoon), Hungary (since Monday evening): suspension of air links with Great Britain.

Croatia (48 hours since Sunday): suspension of passenger air links from the United Kingdom.

Macedonia, Albania (until January 6): suspension of flights from the United Kingdom, isolation for 14 days for all those who have stayed there.

Czech Republic and Poland (since Monday): suspension of flights from the United Kingdom.

The Czech Republic eased these measures on Wednesday.

Russia (one week from Tuesday midnight)

Suspension of air links with the United Kingdom.

Canada (until January 6)

The suspension of flights from Great Britain, decided on Sunday, is extended until January 6.

Asia

Hong Kong (since midnight Monday): suspension of passenger flights from Great Britain.

India (until December 31): suspension of flights from Great Britain.

Middle East

Turkey: suspension of air links from Great Britain, Denmark, the Netherlands and South Africa.

Iran and Jordan (two weeks): interruption of flights from Great Britain.

Israel (since Sunday): entry ban for foreign nationals from the United Kingdom, Denmark and South Africa.

Israelis returning from these countries will be confined to hotels run by the military.

Saudi Arabia (at least a week since Sunday): suspension of international flights and closure of land and sea access to the territory.

Two-week isolation for all passengers arriving on or after December 8 from Europe or a region of the world where the new variant of the virus has been reported.

Oman (one week from Tuesday): border closure to the movement of people.

Kuwait: UK flight ban.

Maghreb

Morocco (since Sunday): suspension of flights from the United Kingdom.

Tunisia (until further notice): suspension of all arrival, departure and transit flights between its airports and those of Great Britain, South Africa and Australia.

Algeria: stop repatriation of Algerian nationals from Great Britain (the only ones authorized since the border was closed on March 17).

- Latin America -

Salvador and Panama: entry ban for anyone who has stayed in the United Kingdom or South Africa in the past month.

Ditto in Paraguay for stays in the last two weeks.

Argentina, Chile: suspension of flights from the United Kingdom.

Bolivia: entry ban for travelers from Europe from Friday for two weeks.

Peru: suspension of flights from Europe, entry ban for non-resident foreigners who have stayed in the United Kingdom in the last two weeks.

Mauritius (since midnight Monday)

Closure of borders with Great Britain and South Africa.

Measures without suspension

In Lebanon, a PCR test is now required for anyone arriving from the United Kingdom, quarantine in the event of a positive test in centers provided for this purpose.

In Greece, a ten-day quarantine is compulsory for all travelers from Great Britain.
