  • The UCPA Sport Station is a new concept of sports complex.

Work has just started in the Euronantes Gare district, near the Petite-Amazonie swimming pool.

The UCPA associative group, specialist in outdoor sports activities, aims to create a new concept of “sports multiplex.” The building, called UCPA Sport Station, is due to open in spring 2023. It will be located there, covering 3,500 m2 , climbing equipment (boulder climbing and playful climbing), a racket sports center (padel tennis, squash, badminton) and a fitness area (cardio-training, cross fit, etc.) A bar-restaurant will also be created.

Open to everyone, families, students and the most seasoned alike, the site will offer both activities supervised by instructors and free access slots.

“The idea is to create a new sporting experience in the heart of cities.

The hours will be wide (from 8 am and until 11 pm some evenings) and the prices are intended to be "very accessible".

Free activities will even be offered in partnership with local associations, specifies Guillaume Légaut.

Objective: to register nearly 200,000 annual admissions in the medium term.

“It's a beautiful, ambitious project linked to the neighborhood.

It's another way of doing sport in the city.

There is an adventure side as the UCPA likes it ”, enthuses the general manager.

To set up this project, UCPA is investing 9 million euros.

It also plans to create 19 jobs.

It will not be the first French UCPA Sport Station.

A similar concept has just opened in Reims.

Another is due to open shortly in Meudon (Hauts-de-Seine).

Others are expected in Bordeaux, Paris, Bercy-Charenton and Asnières.

In Nantes, the UCPA Sport Station will be part of a larger real estate program also comprising 91 housing units and 16,000 m2 of offices.

It is the developer Altarea who is piloting the project with the firms a + samueldelmas architectes and DLW Architects.
