23 December 2020A Turkish court sentenced journalist Can Dundar to more than 27 years in prison on charges of helping a terrorist and espionage group, local media reported.

The Istanbul court found Dundar, former chief editor of the Cumhuriyet newspaper before fleeing to Germany in 2016. The reporter was indicted for a story about a shipment of weapons intercepted at the Syrian border, which he claimed was destined for Syrian rebels.
