December 23, 2020Three policemen were killed and a fourth injured after intervening in a domestic dispute in a hamlet of Puy-de-Dome in central France.

The agents were called around midnight to rescue a woman who had taken refuge on the roof of the house;

arrived at the scene they were targeted by a man who opened fire on them.

One policeman was killed and a second injured.

The 48-year-old man then set fire to the house and killed two other officers, the prosecutor said, stating that the woman was saved.

Firefighters are on site to put out the flames.

The man is known to the police for a matter related to child custody.


The gunman initially shot and killed one officer and wounded another before setting fire to the house.

According to the Clermont-Ferrand prosecutor's office, two other officers were then shot and killed.

Officials reported that the woman was rescued and that at least seven elite tactical agents are on the scene.

"The greatest precautions are being taken regarding the danger of the individual," said a source close to the investigation.
