The Swedish Public Health Agency has produced a new report in which they have simulated what the spread of the coronavirus may look like until the last day of February next year.

The new scenarios developed for the country's regions are based on reported cases during the period 24 August-11 December.

In the case of Jönköping County, the peak of the spread of infection should have been reached in early December.

Uncertainty about the scenario

At the region's press conference on Monday, infection control doctor Malin Bengnér said that it looks like the spread of infection in the county is on a plateau and it has been at about the same level in recent weeks.

During this period, between 70-85 covid patients per day have been cared for in hospitals in the county.

According to them, the Public Health Agency's forecast is based on contacts between people being kept at a limited level throughout the period.

At the same time, the authority writes that there is great uncertainty about the continued development as it is difficult in mid-December to determine whether the cases are increasing, decreasing or whether the regions are on a plateau.
