Lüneburg (dpa) - The Christmas vacation has been canceled for the actors of the ARD telenovela "Rote Rosen" due to the corona.
«There is no real break.
We work through because we have lost time, ”said producer Jan Diepers of the German press agency.
The roses had to pause for five weeks from March 23rd and have not yet caught up with the pre-production of the afternoon programs.
“Every case of illness, every cold takes time, we have to postpone or rewrite the script every time,” explains Diepers, who has been in charge of the 18th season in Lüneburg since August.
So recently they worked three Saturdays in a row to catch up on time.
However, the normal sickness rate has decreased due to wearing masks in everyday life and in the common rooms.

The series producer is not afraid of Corona on the set: “So far we have not had a positive Covid-19 case in production and I do not expect any.
We have a very strict security concept. "
What is crucial, however, is that employees take responsibility for one another and are also careful in their private lives.
But if the viewers are surprised in the future that there is no mouth and nose cover in the series, Diepers can calm down: There will be a lot of testing before scenes with closeness.
And because it is a fictional format, it does not have to be based on current reality.
“The audience needs to relax in the afternoon, but we also have a happy ending at the end of the day,” says Diepers.
"That is why Lüneburg is so well suited, the place is great and is associated with holidays."
And if there is something positive about the pandemic, it is a return to traditional values.
«The essence of the roses brand is friendship, solidarity and emotions.
Corona helps to set priorities, ”emphasizes Diepers, who, together with his colleague Emmo Lempert, is responsible for production.

A Christmas carol was recorded with songwriter Rolf Zuckowski, but the classic Christmas Eve does not take place in the series.
The danger of the sending date being postponed due to current events is too great.
For the team, the Christmas party and gifts are canceled, instead the employees receive a corona bonus, which can be paid out tax-free.
