The overweight and obesity rates of residents in various age groups in urban and rural areas continue to rise. More than half of the adult residents are overweight or obese. The overweight and obesity rates of children and adolescents aged 6-17 and under 6 have reached 19% and 10.4%, respectively.

The State Council Information Office held a press conference on the 23rd. Li Bin, deputy director of the National Health Commission, introduced the "Report on Nutrition and Chronic Disease Status of Chinese Residents (2020)".

According to Li Bin, the results of the "Report on the Status of Nutrition and Chronic Diseases of Chinese Residents (2020)" show that in recent years, with the in-depth advancement of people's livelihood projects such as healthy China and healthy poverty alleviation, my country's nutrition improvement and chronic disease prevention and control have made positive progress and significant progress. Effectiveness.

Mainly reflect the following aspects:

First, the physical development and nutritional deficiencies of residents have continued to improve, and the urban-rural gap has gradually narrowed.

Residents have adequate dietary energy and macronutrient intake, and their intake of high-quality protein is increasing.

The average adult height continues to grow, and the growth and development levels of children and adolescents continue to improve. The growth retardation rate and low weight rate of children under the age of 6 have achieved the 2020 national planning goals. In particular, the growth retardation problem of rural children has been fundamentally improved.

The residents’ anemia problem continued to improve, and the anemia rates of adults, children and adolescents aged 6-17, and pregnant women all declined to varying degrees.

Second, residents’ health awareness has gradually increased, and the prevalence of risk factors for certain chronic disease behaviors has shown a downward trend.

In recent years, the smoking rate, second-hand smoke exposure rate, and regular drinking rate of residents have all declined.

Family salt reduction has achieved results. The average daily cooking salt per capita is 9.3 grams, a decrease of 1.2 grams compared with 2015.

Residents are paying more and more attention to their own health. The proportion of people who regularly measure health indicators such as weight, blood pressure, blood sugar, and blood lipids has increased significantly.

Third, the premature mortality rate of major chronic diseases is decreasing year by year, and the labor loss caused by chronic diseases has been significantly reduced.

In 2019, the premature mortality rate of Chinese residents due to four types of major chronic diseases, including cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases, cancer, chronic respiratory diseases and diabetes, was 16.5%, a decrease of 2 percentage points compared with 18.5% in 2015. 10.8%, achieving the 2020 national planning target ahead of schedule.

Li Bin pointed out that with the continuous improvement of my country's economic and social development and the continuous improvement of health services, the average life expectancy of residents has continued to increase. With the continuous extension of the survival period of patients with chronic diseases, coupled with the acceleration of population aging, urbanization, industrialization and behavioral risk factors The impact of the epidemic on the incidence of chronic diseases, the base of chronic disease patients in my country will continue to expand.

At the same time, the proportion of deaths due to chronic diseases will continue to increase. In 2019, the deaths caused by chronic diseases in my country accounted for 88.5% of the total deaths, and the death rate of the central cerebrovascular disease, cancer, and chronic respiratory diseases was 80.7%. The prevention and control work is still facing huge Challenges.

The challenges are mainly reflected in two aspects:

First, unhealthy lifestyles of residents still prevail.

The dietary fat energy supply ratio continued to rise, and the recommended upper limit of 30% was exceeded for the first time in rural areas.

The average daily amount of cooking salt and oil used by households is still much higher than the recommended value. At the same time, the proportion of residents dining out is increasing. Oil and salt in canteens, restaurants, and processed food should cause concern.

The problem of frequent consumption of sugary drinks by children and adolescents has become prominent. The smoking rate of people over 15 years old and the drinking rate of adults within 30 days are more than a quarter, and the problem of insufficient physical activity is widespread.

Second, the problem of overweight and obesity among residents has become increasingly prominent, and the prevalence/incidence of chronic diseases is still on the rise.

The overweight and obesity rates of residents in various age groups in urban and rural areas continue to rise. More than half of the adult residents are overweight or obese. The overweight and obesity rates of children and adolescents aged 6-17 and under 6 have reached 19% and 10.4%, respectively.

The prevalence of hypertension, diabetes, hypercholesterolemia, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, and cancer has increased compared with 2015.

"Faced with the still severe situation of chronic disease prevention and control, the Party Central Committee and the State Council have attached great importance to the implementation of the comprehensive prevention and control strategy for chronic diseases in the "Healthy China 2030" Planning Outline, and included reasonable diet and the prevention and control of major chronic diseases into the Healthy China Action. Further focus on the main nutrition and chronic disease issues currently faced by the citizens, and coordinate the promotion from the three levels of the government, society, and individuals (family). Through measures such as popularizing health knowledge, participating in health actions, and providing health services, we actively and effectively respond to current challenges and promote realization All people are healthy." Li Bin said.
