They said that they had considered appeals against the decision of the Basmanny District Court of Moscow to extend the arrest of Furgal until March 9, 2021.

“The appellate court determined to leave the complaints without satisfaction, the decision of the district court was unchanged,” TASS reports.

As the agency clarifies, the defense of the former governor asked to release Furgal from the pre-trial detention center under house arrest with his relatives living in Moscow.

Earlier, a court in Moscow extended Furgalu's arrest until March 9.

He is accused of organizing the murder of businessman Yevgeny Zori. 

Furgal himself announced pressure to persuade him to cooperate with the investigation.
