Offenbach (dpa / lnw) - On Christmas Eve, North Rhine-Westphalia is likely to have relatively mild and wet weather.

On Wednesday, strong gusts of up to 60 kilometers per hour are likely in the Eifel, sometimes also in other ridge locations.

In the afternoon and evening there can be thunderstorms in the northern parts of the country.

Continuous rain is possible, especially in the mountains.

The maximum temperatures are between 10 and 14 degrees, in the higher mountains around 9 degrees.

In the night of Thursday it can occasionally rain like a shower with lows of 7 to 3 degrees.

On Christmas Eve (Thursday) it continues to rain.

According to the DWD, there can be sleet or snow in the mountains in the second half of the day.

The maximum temperatures are between 7 and 9 degrees, in the north and in the higher regions 5 to 7 degrees.

On Friday night there can be light snow showers, especially in the low mountain ranges - it can also be slippery.

The DWD also warns of slipperiness in the lowlands.
