Dresden (dpa / sn) - Christmas in the Corona year is an organizational challenge for Saxony's Economics Minister Martin Dulig (SPD) with his extended family.

"These are painful debates because you have to decide what is and what is not," said the SPD politician to the German press agency.

Dulig and his wife have six children and four grandchildren, but according to the current Christmas rules, only four people are allowed to have their own household - children under 14 years old are excluded.

“We won't be able to see all of our children and grandchildren at Christmas, but will be celebrating for the first time in a very small group at home, which hurts my wife and me very much.

But unfortunately the situation is as it is, we have to accept that. "

Dulig - like Prime Minister Michael Kretschmer (CDU) - also wants to do without the service on Christmas Eve this year. However, the son of a deacon does not want to celebrate entirely without religious appreciation: "We will organize a small Christmas service at home and celebrate Christmas." Since 1987, the minister said, he has been playing the trumpet in church every Christmas Eve. "I was hoping that I could do that this year too." But this is no longer possible. To do this, he wants to at least play Christmas carols with his trumpet outdoors on the balcony.
