Potsdam / Cottbus (dpa / bb) - In Brandenburg, many churches are celebrating December 24 this year online or in silent devotion.
Presence church services are strictly regulated by the communities and are usually only possible with prior registration, as Christiane Bertelsmann, spokeswoman for the Evangelical Church Berlin-Brandenburg-Silesian Upper Lusatia (EKBO), said on Wednesday.
Before you go to church, you should find out via the Internet or by phone whether the houses are open, so Bertelsmann.
Many churches left their doors open for silent celebrations;
devotions to take away or songs would be laid out.
"We should now show charity and solidarity and avoid gatherings," said Jana Drews, spokeswoman for the Evangelical Church District Cottbus.
"This time Christmas takes place at home."
The church district recorded a one-hour service in advance, which could be viewed on the 24th at 5:00 p.m. on various television channels, the circle's website and on YouTube.
A DVD of it was distributed to the congregations on Tuesday in order to enable people without internet access to worship.

The DVDs could be picked up in the churches.
At 5 p.m. on Christmas Eve, the bells should ring in the church district so that the Christmas message can be shared together, even when celebrations are taking place at home.
"We'll keep our feet still until January 10th," Drews said.
After all, there should be musical offers online.
In Potsdam there are only two congregations where very small church services are held, which are carried out under strict conditions, as stated on the website of the Evangelical Church District.
Which these are is not disclosed there.
Participation there is only possible after prior registration.
Whether these actually take place is still subject to change.
Many congregations in the state capital want to open their churches for a personal prayer at the manger or to receive the blessing and offer pastoral talks, as it was said.
