23 December 2020It is "very likely" that the United Kingdom and the European Union are "moving towards" an agreement, reports the BBC, specifying however that the final text is not yet "signed" and that the two parties are still "bargaining" on some points.

The issues still under discussion are always those relating to

fishing rights and the rules to be established for fair competition between London and the EU

.

EU sources aware of the negotiations instead report that the two sides are in "final tightening", but that "talking about the announcement of an agreement is premature".

The Bloomberg agency has a different opinion: it claims, citing sources aware of the facts, that the agreement would have been reached and the negotiators would be working on the finishing touches.

The post-Brexit trade agreement between London and Brussels is "possible but far from certain", Downing Street sources told the Press Association.

Denying the rumors spread and re-launched by the BBC on the convergence of the two parties to the signing of an agreement.

The meeting of the 27

A meeting of the ambassadors of the 27, according to some sources, is scheduled for tomorrow even if there have been no calls.

According to the Guardian, which cites sources from both Brussels and London, the talks are about to reach a positive conclusion and diplomats representing EU member states are already examining some of the two thousand pages of agreed legal texts.

The President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, would have been in constant contact with British Prime Minister Boris Johnson for the past 72 hours and it is not excluded that the two will hear each other again in the evening.
