Braunschweig (AP) - Eintracht Braunschweig has signed defender Brian Behrendt from Bundesliga soccer club Arminia Bielefeld.

The 29-year-old will move to Lower Saxony on January 1, 2021 and, according to the second division side, will receive a contract from Wednesday until June 30, 2023. The Eintracht managers are thus reacting to the poor defensive performance in the season so far.

With 29 goals against, the promoted team has the weakest defense in the league so far.

“Brian has the experience of 100 second division games.

He has the quality that we currently need to stabilize our defensive behavior », said Eintracht managing director Peter Vollmann.

According to the rules of the German Football League, Behrendt will be allowed to wear the Eintracht jersey for the first time on January 11, 2021 against Fortuna Düsseldorf.

The defender has played three times for Arminia this season.
