The new Corona strain was found in 5 countries other than Britain

World Health Organization officials said that the new strain of the emerging corona virus (Covid-19) that was discovered in Britain, was found in people in 5 other countries, which are Australia, Iceland, Italy, the Netherlands and Denmark.

The Executive Director of the WHO Health Emergencies Program, Mike Ryan, confirmed that although the new strain is spreading more quickly than previously known strains, the transmission of infection is not as fast as infection with measles, mumps and smallpox.

And the chief researcher on Covid-19 of the World Health Organization, Maria Van Kerkhove, explained that the new strain that was found in South Africa is similar to the one found in Britain, but the two are not related.

And the officials of the international organization had mentioned earlier that the new strain of the emerging corona virus is spreading at a faster rate, but it is controllable like the rest of the other known strains of the disease.

"The situation is not out of control, but it cannot be allowed to spread," Mike Ryan said, urging countries to implement previously tried and tested health measures.

The World Health Organization indicated that every ten people infected with the new strain of the virus can transmit the infection to 15 others on average, while the rate of transmission of infection with the previously known strains in Britain reaches 11 people.

And Maria Van Kerkhove stated that scientists in Britain are trying to determine to what extent this increase is related to changes in the nature of the virus or to behavioral causes among citizens.

And she emphasized that there are no indications so far that the new strain causes more severe or life-threatening symptoms.
