According to several sources with insight into the political leadership, the split is now total between the Moderates' regional group and the regional councilor Emma Stjernlöf.

Stjernlöf, who today heads the heavy health and medical care committee, was called during the autumn to several internal talks where criticism was leveled at her way of working with other party friends, colleagues in a governing Alliance in the Blekinge Region - and against officials.

The most strained is the relationship with the regional council and group leader Lennarth Förberg.

- It is an internal process in our party and there is nothing I can comment on, he says and refers to the district chairman Roger Fredriksson.

Nor does he want to comment on the crisis in the party's regional group.

- I do not comment on internal events or questions.

May have political consequences

According to SVT Nyheter Blekinge's experience, the conflict worsened after the autumn meetings and when the regional group together with parts of the district management urged her in a signed letter to leave the chairmanship, Emma Stjernlöf was taken off sick.

As compensation, however, she would be allowed to keep the seat in the regional council and in the regional board's working committee (RSAU), several sources tell SVT.

- Internally, she has also made it clear that she does not intend to leave any assignments at all.

In that case, she would rather stay as a political savage, says a person with insight into the regional government.

If Stjernlöf - despite the internal criticism - remains, the decision could have significant political consequences.

In the regional board today, the balance of power is equal with six votes for the ruling Alliance and six for the opposition with the Social Democrats and the Left Party.

In addition, the Sweden Democrats have three seats.

On Tuesday, Emma Stjernlöf confirmed SVT's information and was clear that she will remain.

- I do not intend to resign, absolutely not, she says.

Affects cooperation

The rift in the M-government has for some time also been known among the Alliance's leading representatives in other parties.

And it has already affected political cooperation.

- It is clear that it makes it difficult for us.

But in the first place it is a problem for the Moderates and that has been the case for quite some time now, says a source.

That Emma Stjernlöf earlier during the term of office ended up on a collision course with senior officials became known in connection with the former hospital manager Lars Almroth was fired in May 2019. The background then was that Lars Almroth got enough and marked when Stjernlöf blamed the hospital staff's dissatisfaction on officials, something SVT News Blekinge was able to reveal.
