Berlin (dpa) - The Berlin Senate wants to support the film industry with ten million euros.

Corona-related damage during filming can thus be cushioned retrospectively until November 1, 2020, as the Senate announced on Tuesday after its meeting.

Berlin's Governing Mayor Michael Müller (SPD) said that without the default fund, the risk of filming in times of the pandemic would be unmanageable for producers.

Six million euros will go to the so-called failure fund I for failures in cinema and series productions in Berlin, which are funded by the Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg.

Four million euros in Default Fund II are intended to secure TV and streaming projects from Berlin producers.

The film and television industry is an important economic factor for the capital region.
