Rosenheim (dpa / lby) - In a scrap-ripe small car without belts and without heating, a smuggler is said to have tried to bring five refugees to Germany.

The federal police noticed the completely overloaded car on Tuesday on Autobahn 93 near Rosenheim, the officials said.

The inspection revealed that the five hypothermic passengers all had no valid entry documents.

They said they came from Iraq and had been unbuckled and squashed in the small car for over ten hours.

The five people were taken to a refugee reception center.

The 33-year-old driver was taken into custody on suspicion of smuggling foreigners under life-threatening circumstances.
