A duo of female comedians won the sixth edition of the RFI Talents du Rire 2020 prize. The Nyotas, alias Jovita Songwa and Princesse Watuwila, two young Congolese, were preferred by the jury.

They will receive their prize at the “Abidjan Capitale du Rire” festival, which will be exceptionally moved to next February, from 12 to 14, due to the pandemic.

They are two, but often their voices are one.

Jovita Songwa and Princess Watuwila, 24 and 25, share this same high-pitched stamp.

This is what brought them together, at the National Institute of the Arts in Kinshasa, where they met.

Same voice, same frail figure.

A resemblance which they play on stage and which does not end there.

We have a lot of things in common, we don't like black humor or hurting people

," explains Princess Watuwila.

We like to make people laugh based on scenes from everyday life, and in Kinshasa, there is no shortage of inspiration, just by watching what is happening in the street

"Give joy to people"

Trained in drama, the two young women had no plans to engage in humor.

It was their compatriot Ronsia Kukielukila, himself winner of the RFI Talents du Rire prize, three years ago, who pushed them on this path, and encouraged them to take the stage in tandem.

He also baptized them Les Nyotas, "the stars" in Swahili.

Fans of

,

Michel Gohou

and Gad Elmaleh, here they are in any case consecrated rising stars of francophone humor in Africa.

It's an honor to receive this award today

," said Princess Watuwila.

We will continue to work together.

I have been doing humor for five years and it does me good to give joy, pleasure to people.
