Düsseldorf (dpa / lnw) - The North Rhine-Westphalian Prime Minister Armin Laschet (CDU) will celebrate Christmas with his three children.

His father, who is usually with us, will celebrate with one of his brothers, Laschet said on Tuesday in Düsseldorf.

He will not take part in the Christmas mass this year.

Although he had booked tickets: "But I will refrain from it," he said.

Laschet spoke out against a state ban on Christmas services.

In large churches such as Cologne Cathedral, church services are possible if the strict hygiene rules are observed.
