Potsdam (dpa / bb) - According to Interior Minister Michael Stübgen, Brandenburg has taken in 60 children and their relatives from Greek refugee camps.

With this, Brandenburg had already fulfilled three quarters of the promised admission of refugees from Greece, Stübgen reported on Tuesday after the cabinet meeting.

The state parliament decided at the end of September that Brandenburg should take part in a special recording.

According to the State Chancellery, the state government then agreed with the federal government to accept an additional 79 refugees.

"Our possibilities are not limitless, but the pictures of the refugees on the Greek islands could not leave anyone indifferent," said Stübgen.

"We cannot and should not be indifferent to the suffering of sick refugee children."

According to the State Chancellery, 48 of the refugees admitted come from the group of seriously ill children with their nuclear families.

In addition, there are seven unaccompanied underage refugees from the Moria refugee camp and five people are part of the federal admission quota for families recognized as eligible for protection.
