N ° 10: No man's land

The pitch:

This French, Belgian and Israeli co-production addresses the Syrian conflict through a family story.

A young Parisian thinks he recognizes his sister in a mysterious video posted by Kurdish activists in Syria.

She had however been declared dead in an attack in Cairo two years earlier.

Antoine then decides to go to Syria, in the heart of the conflict, in the hope of finding his sister ...

Why SERIELAND recommends it to you

: The finesse with which the authors of the series approach the psychology of the characters is remarkable.

The point of fiction is to try to understand why and how Westerners find themselves in this war ground.

The strength of the series is that it never takes sides.

And the cast is remarkable: Felix Moati in the role of Antoine, Mélanie Thierry in that of Anna and Souheila Yacoub who plays Sarya.

# 9:

 Stateless

The pitch:

The crossed fate of 4 characters in an Australian detention center.

Some were forced into it, others for professional reasons.

In this highly secure place, located in the heart of the Australian desert, crushed by the sun and swept by dust, you will discover: Sofie, a young woman suffering from mental disorders, Ameer, an Afghan refugee, Clare who represents the bureaucracy and runs the camp, and finally Cam.

He is the father of an Australian family, and took a job as a guard to be able to get by.

Why SERIELAND recommends it:

It's a series that denounces Australian migration policy with its camps in which women and men are mistreated.

It is also remarkable because it avoids all Manichaeism and no situation is caricatured.

The difficult subject is treated with accuracy, intelligence and humanity.
