A Palestinian was killed Monday evening by the Israeli occupation forces' bullets, for allegedly trying to shoot a number of their militants near one of the doors of Al-Aqsa Mosque in the Old City of occupied Jerusalem.
Al-Jazeera correspondent reported that the Israeli occupation forces shot a Palestinian youth near Bab Hatta, one of the doors leading to the Al-Aqsa Mosque in occupied Jerusalem, for allegedly trying to shoot one of its soldiers.
After that, the occupation police closed the doors of Al-Aqsa Mosque, detained the worshipers inside it and assaulted a number of them, before reopening the doors.
A statement of the occupation forces stated that it emerged from the preliminary investigation that the young man arrived at Bab Hatta and fired at a security point for the Israeli police at the site, then chased him on the foot and shot him.
In a related context, Al-Jazeera Net correspondent in the West Bank, Atef Douglas, said that the Israeli occupation soldiers and settlers closed, on Monday, some of the main roads and entrances to the city of Nablus in the northern West Bank.
Dozens of settlers gathered at the Za'tara and Huwara military checkpoints, south of Nablus, closing them and preventing Palestinian citizens from passing through, while the soldiers also tightened their military measures at the Beit Furik and Jet checkpoints in the east and west of the city.
He added that, since this afternoon, settlers are still attacking Palestinian vehicles passing through the main streets in various regions of the West Bank, especially the roads connecting Nablus and northern cities such as Jenin, Tulkarm and Qalqilya.
For his part, the official in charge of the settlement file in the northern West Bank, Ghassan Douglas, said - in a phone call to Al-Jazeera Net - that the settlers had mobilized after the Israeli occupation army announced that it had found the body of the Israeli settlement that was lost yesterday evening near a settlement west of the city of Jenin in the northern West Bank, where the army suggested Occupation to be killed in a resistance operation.
Settlers also deployed near Shafi Shimron settlement, north of Nablus, and wounded young Tariq Khatatbeh from the town of Beit Furik, east of Nablus, in the face, after throwing stones at him when he was passing the main street in front of the settlement.
Douglas warned of wider attacks by settlers during the night hours, after they continued to gather near the entrances to the settlements in the northern West Bank.
