The circle is complete.

King of biathlon Martin Fourcade bade farewell to the circuit with an 83rd victory on March 14, 2020 in Kontiolahti, ten years to the day after his first World Cup success obtained on the same Finnish track.

An end at the height of his epic for the five-time French Olympic champion (32), returned to his best level after a nightmarish 2018-2019 season and who fought to the end for the gain of an eighth big crystal globe , before failing for two small points against the Norwegian Johannes Boe.

Fourcade has retired with his head held high and can now devote himself fully to his function as chairman of the Athletes' Commission for the Paris-2024 Olympics.

He will also be France's candidate to join the International Olympic Committee (IOC) in 2022.
