Berlin (dpa / bb) - In Berlin, eight World War II blind men were rendered harmless this year.

Two of the bombs were blown, the remaining six were defused, as the Berlin police announced at the request of the German Press Agency (as of December 10, 2020).

Accordingly, ammunition weighing 50 kilograms or more was recorded in the statistics.

According to the police, six duds were rendered harmless in 2019, compared with three in the previous year.

On November 14th, thousands of people in Kreuzberg had to leave their homes for more than ten hours to defuse a World War II bomb.

The dud was found during construction work in the courtyard of the patent office between Gitschiner Strasse and Neuenburger Strasse.

The restricted circle around the site had a radius of 300 meters.

On January 21, the defusing of a 250 kilogram World War II bomb shook many people around Alexanderplatz after work.

Tourists stood in front of the closed Berlin TV tower, the governing mayor had to close the town hall and families crouched in emergency shelters at night instead of in their apartments.

The bomb was found during construction work near the old town house behind the Red Town Hall.

It was defused during the night.
