Kiel (dpa / lno) - For Holstein Kiel coach Ole Werner, after leading the table in the 2nd Bundesliga, it is too early to talk about promotion.
"Even if it's an old phrase and totally boring, but it's still the right approach: watch from game to game and try week after week to develop," said the youngest coach in German professional football at 32 years old Sunday evening in the «Sportclub» of NDR television.
The league is very close to "very, very balanced games," said Werner.
"Even if the games often went in our direction, I have never seen a game in which we could do without percentage points."
A situation will arise in the course of the season, "where you have a feeling for where you have a nose for it, in which direction the whole thing can go and what is a sensible goal for the last game days," he said.
"But we are very far from that."
Kiel have been unbeaten in eight games.
The 2-0 win at SV Sandhausen on Sunday was the fifth win in a row - a record since the promotion in 2017. After 13 match days they have 28 points and are first in the table for the short Christmas break.
So far Holstein has only suffered one defeat this season and with eleven goals conceded is also the best defense in the league.
