Chinanews, December 21. According to a report compiled by the European Times, French Higher Education Minister Frédérique Vidal said in an interview with the media that the government plans to allow some college students to return to school in early January next year.

French TV station RMC reported that the French Minister of Higher Education Vidal expressed optimism that the university will start in January next year in an interview with RMC TV station on December 17.

"The government's goal is to return to school from the beginning of January (January 4-11), but it is not for all students, and it is currently not 100%." Vidal explained.

Due to the impact of the new crown pneumonia epidemic, at the end of October this year, French universities completely stopped offline classroom teaching.

In early December, French President Macron promised that if the epidemic data improves, the government will do its best to allow French universities to start some courses starting in early January.

However, the resumption of classes from school to school in January next year can only target some college students.

Vidal made it clear that according to the current situation of the new crown pneumonia epidemic, “the new school year is not aimed at all college students, because we still need to maintain a high degree of vigilance.” At the same time, she also emphasized that priority will be given to “vulnerable groups”.

"However, other students can only stay at home and wait for the epidemic to improve." Vidal pointed out.

“In general, the priority of returning to university to attend classes is mainly for freshmen. They started to attend online classes in the second semester after entering university last year. At present, many students have not yet fully adapted to the higher education model; in addition, it also includes health problems. College students with disabilities, and international students at risk of dropping out.” Vidal explained.

As for international students, Vidal said: “They are in a double predicament because not only are they far away from home and relatives, but usually they can only stay in small apartments and obey the'banned' regulations.”

"For other students, we will continue to adopt the practice class model. If all goes well, we will expand to the school resumption scale from January 20. Of course, everything will depend on the development of the epidemic in the next few days ( Including changes in data on virus infection cases).” Vidal added.

"It would be good if we can stay at the current level, but if the relevant data rises after the year-end holiday, then we will have to remain vigilant again." Vidal further explained.

For the minister, starting normal classes as soon as possible will help restore the connection between students and teachers. Of course, the ideal is to resume classes in a comprehensive manner.
