"Today is a crucial day in the fight against the coronavirus," said Steinmeier after his tour of the vaccination center in the Treptow arena with a view to the announced decision of the European Medicines Agency on the approval of the first vaccine to be used in the European Union .

"But today is also a day of hope, because when the vaccination begins, the light at the end of the tunnel becomes a little brighter."

The Federal President was guided through the vaccination center by the project manager for the new vaccination centers, Albrecht Broemme.
Broemme had already set up the treatment center for Covid 19 patients on the exhibition grounds in the spring.
