Karlsruhe (dpa) - The alleged assassin from Waldkraiburg has to answer for attempted murder in 31 cases in court.

The trial is to take place at the Munich Higher Regional Court, as the Federal Prosecutor's Office in Karlsruhe announced on Monday.

Charges had already been brought there on December 8th.

The man is accused of, among other things, serious arson and the preparation of a serious state-endangering act of violence.

The German of Kurdish descent was arrested in May after several attacks with incendiary devices or foul-smelling liquids in Waldkraiburg in Upper Bavaria.

These were directed against shops and restaurants owned by owners of Turkish origin.

It turned out that the then 25-year-old man had a weapon, 23 pipe bombs and more than 45 kilograms of explosives with which he admitted to attack several mosques, the Turkish consulate general in Munich and the Ditib central mosque in Cologne.

Investigators believe the man is a supporter of the Islamic State (IS) terrorist organization.

His motive is said to have been hatred of Turkey and all people of Turkish descent.
