Linken / Ahlbeck (dpa / mv) - At the border controls to Poland due to the Corona quarantine regulation, significantly fewer vehicles were checked on Sunday.

As a police spokesman said on Monday in Neubrandenburg, the volume of traffic was more than two thirds lower than on the previous days.

One reason could be that many Polish citizens had already returned to their homeland for Christmas or that the controls have got around more.

At border crossings from Bundesstraße 104 near Linken to Ahlbeck on the island of Usedom (Western Pomerania-Greifswald), the inmates of 167 cars were advised of a possible ten-day quarantine upon return when leaving.

18 drivers decided not to go on a trip to Poland and turned back.

This proportion was higher when entering Germany from Poland.

Here occupants in 149 vehicles were checked.

Of them, 23 drivers turned around and stayed in Poland.

During the controls, the data of four women and men were collected and reported to the health authorities because they did not have the necessary papers.

This proportion had been significantly higher on the previous days.

In several federal states, people entering the country are threatened with quarantine.

This does not apply to travelers or commuters who live on one side and work on the other - including Polish doctors and nurses.
