China News Service, December 21. According to AFP reports, Afghan officials said that on the 20th local time, a car bomb attack on an Afghan congressman occurred in Kabul, the capital of the country, killing at least 9 people and injuring 20 others.

  Several Afghan officials revealed that the target of the attack was MP Khan Mohamed Wardak.

An assistant of Wardak said that Wardak's convoy was attacked on the way.

In this attack, Wardak and five of his bodyguards were injured.

  "The car bomb attack has killed 9 people and injured 20 others," said Masood Andrabi, the Minister of the Interior of Afghanistan.

The department said in a separate statement that this was a "terrorist attack" and the injured included women and children.

  Security sources said that the attack occurred in the west of Kabul. “The (car bomb) explosion was very powerful and caused great damage to nearby houses.”

  Allegedly, surveillance pictures showed that at least two cars caught fire, and heavy black smoke hit the sky.

Afghan President Ghani also condemned the attack in a statement.

  According to reports, no organization has claimed responsibility for the attack so far.
