Indonesia, which has been participating in the KF-X development project for a Korean fighter, has not paid ante for 3 years, and is showing signs of abnormality in the submarine contract, another key cooperation project.

We are not sending a penny for the construction of three submarines, with a contract payment of 160 billion won until the end of two years.

This is an exclusive report by Kim Tae-hoon, a defense reporter.

<Reporter> The

Indonesian government and Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering signed a contract to build three submarines in April last year.

The project cost is KRW 1.1 trillion.

If Indonesia pays a down payment of 160 billion won, which is 15 percent of the project cost, the contract will take effect and the submarine will be built.

With the participation in the development project of the Korean fighter KF-X, it has been called as the two pillars of defense cooperation between the two countries.

However, in October last year, when the Indonesian government completed the policy loan process at the bank and received a letter of credit, the down payment was paid.

The new defense minister Frabower, who was the opposition presidential candidate, has ordered a review of diversification of weapons adoption.

[Director Jang Dongnam/Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering Special Ships Division: I wonder if the current minister should be viewed as a partner in other places (other than Korea)...

.This is delayed as the disagreements of Indonesia's policy are still in tune.]

The bilateral summit, the defense ministers' meeting, and the defense cooperation committee meeting were held, and a delegation from the Defense Agency visited, but until now, one year and eight months later, no down payment has been paid.

[Moon Geun-sik/Professor of Graduate School of Political Science, Gyeonggi University: If the contract for the export of three submarines fails to take effect, it could be a red flag for the decline in defense exports.

Therefore, the Korean government should take a more step forward and continue to play a role.] Some

pointed out that Indonesia may have other monetary objectives behind the cause of diversifying the introduction of weapons to shake the defense cooperation between the two countries by not paying the submarine down payment following the KF-X development contribution. There is.
