Daun (dpa / lrs) - A woman was slightly injured in a fire triggered by a toaster in Daun.

The 83-year-old was first taken to a hospital, but was able to leave it again, the police said on Sunday.

Accordingly, the woman had toasted a bread on Saturday evening and left the kitchen.

When she saw flames and smoke on the toaster, she fled to neighbors.

When the emergency services arrived, wafts of smoke were already coming out of the row house in the Vulkaneifel district.

The fire brigade went into the house wearing respirators to put out the fire.

Due to the intense heat, the smoke and the extinguishing water, the house is currently not habitable, according to the police.

The 83-year-old lives with neighbors.

The damage was estimated at around 100,000 euros.
