The Netherlands is currently imposing a five-week lockdown until mid-January, with schools and non-essential businesses closed, in order to curb a rebound in the virus.

Dutch experts are working to establish whether other contaminations are linked to this case.

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson said on Saturday that initial data showed the virus circulating in London and south-east England is up to 70 percent more contagious than the previous strain.
