In Skellefteå, Europe's largest battery factory is being built, in Luleå billions are being invested in fossil-free steel production, and at the same time the mining company LKAB is investing hundreds of billions in becoming more fossil-free.

Thousands of jobs are created, but with big investments also come challenges.

- It is a very welcome and gratifying message for us.

We mainly see challenges around infrastructure, skills supply and social transformation with, for example, housing construction, says Lorents Burman (S), chairman of the municipal board in Skellefteå municipality.

Coordinates national, regional and local initiatives

The idea is that the coordinator should act as a link between the actors and contribute to the efforts made at national, regional and local level being coordinated and complementing each other.

It is Peter Larsson who gets the assignment.

He is a senior adviser at Sveriges Ingenjörer and a member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences and has previously been the government's contact person for the development of the food chain and for business development in Gotland County.

The assignment must be finalized no later than 30 November 2022.
