Hochfilzen (dpa) - Olympic champion Arnd Peiffer provided the first German victory this winter in the biathlon world cup.
The 33-year-old prevailed in the mass start of Hochfilzen on Sunday after shooting faultlessly ahead of Sweden's Martin Ponsiluoma (1), Norwegian Tarjei Bö (1) and Benedikt Doll (1).
For the ex-world champion, it was the tenth World Cup victory of his career and the first ever in a mass start.
For the first time, Peiffer was successful in the World Cup in Khanty-Mansiysk, Russia, in March 2009 and had won a sprint competition.
