Many elected officials, of all political stripes, rebelled on Sunday anti-Semitic tweets against Miss Provence during the Miss France 2021 beauty contest. We must not let anything go.

- Gérald DARMANIN (@GDarmanin) December 20, 2020

"I am deeply shocked by the rain of anti-Semitic insults against Miss Provence. We must not let anything go. Shame on their authors", said on Twitter the Minister of the Interior Gerald Darmanin, affirming that "the police services and the gendarmerie [were] mobilized ".

The Minister for Citizenship, Marlène Schiappa, for her part indicated that she sent the prosecutor a report on the basis of Article 40 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, which requires any public authority to report an offense of which it has knowledge.

The Miss France contest "is not an anti-Semitism contest," added the minister on Twitter.

"TF1, EndemolShine France and the organization Miss France strongly condemn the hateful and anti-Semitic remarks made last night on social networks against Miss Provence", bringing "all [their] support to Miss Provence, first Dauphine."

Asked Sunday on BFMTV, Amandine Petit, elected Miss France, found "extremely disappointing" these "inappropriate remarks" aimed at her runner-up, to whom she gave her "support".

Indignation

Associations and elected officials of all stripes have multiplied indignant reactions on twitter.

"Appointment in court for the tweeters who last night turned Twitter into an anti-Semitic cesspool," the Licra promised, inviting Internet users to report the content on its site in order to carry out "group action".

The Union of Jewish Students of France (UEJF) denounced "a competition for anti-Semitism".

On the right, the LR president of the Paca region, Renaud Muselier, gave his support to a Miss "French, of Italian and Israeli origin, Provencal, from the south" and who "perfectly represents our region and our country".

"The pseudonymity must be lifted so that the authors of these publications are brought to justice," said the boss of Hauts-de-France, Xavier Bertrand, while that of the Grand Est, Jean Rottner, called for "to fight this beast filthy ".

On the left, the national secretary of the PCF, Fabien Roussel, wondered: "Twitter accomplice?", Recalling that "anti-Semitism, racism are offenses since the Gayssot law".

For LFI MP Clémentine Autain, "in this matrix of violence, the Jewish people are hated for the sole reason that they are Jewish".

The elected RN (and member of the office) Julien Odoul estimated that "massive immigration and the absence of assimilation can therefore rot a Miss France contest", while the MEP Gilbert Collard affirmed that "really, these dirty assholes dirty everything! "

"We have allowed a political Islamism to settle on French soil which has given birth to children," lamented the boss of Debout la France, Nicolas Dupont-Aignan on BFMTV.
