Today (21st) at 2:23 a.m., an earthquake of magnitude 6.5 occurred in the east coast of Aomori Prefecture, Japan.



According to the Japan Meteorological Agency and others, this earthquake, which was estimated to have an epicenter depth of 43 km, caused a shaking of up to 5 magnitudes in the northern inland areas of Iwate Prefecture.



NHK reported that the shaking continued for about 10 seconds in the area where the magnitude 5 was observed.



No tsunami caused by the earthquake has occurred, and the damage situation is unknown.
