The Minister of National Education, Jean-Michel Blanquer, was the guest of Europe 1, Sunday evening.

He said that postponing the start of the January school year after the end of the year holidays was "not the preferred option", ensuring that there is less risk of contamination in the school environment than outside.

Invited from Europe 1, Sunday evening, the Minister of National Education justified this by studies "which have shown that in schools, we succeed in being less contaminated than outside the school environment".

"Less than 0.2% of schools, colleges and high schools" have closed

"The situation has shown that there was no particular contamination at school," said the minister, recalling that "less than 0.2% of schools, colleges and high schools" had been closed since the beginning of the 'school year.

"We have protocols and we evolve them according to the circumstances."
