A total of 3,952 places of sale of narcotics have been identified in metropolitan France and overseas by the Ministry of the Interior, said Sunday Gérald Darmanin, who announced the creation of a platform to allow residents to report them.

"I hope that the police and the gendarmerie attack each of them. I will communicate every month the number of points of deal dismantled on the territory", declared the Minister of the Interior in an interview granted to the Parisian.

Priority to the fight against drug trafficking

A point of deal is defined by the ministry as a place on the public highway where traffickers sell drugs on a daily basis.

Gérald Darmanin, who gives the figures for seizures of cannabis, cocaine and heroin each month, has made the fight against drug trafficking his priority since his arrival at Place Beauvau.

Accused on this ground of reinstating a policy of the figures, the Minister of the Interior affirms "to work of transparency" to "obtain results".

A platform for reporting deal points must be put online from 2021 to give citizens "the means to help us", announces Gérald Darmanin.

The departments with the most drug sales places are Seine-Saint-Denis (276), Rhône (255) and North (251), according to figures given to the Parisian by the Ministry of the Interior.

With 34.2 drug sales points per 100,000 inhabitants, Guadeloupe is the department where the density of deal points is the highest, according to these figures.
