Berlin (AP) - A drone flew against the bell tower of the Berlin Memorial Church and wedged itself in the facade.

She had to be removed by the fire department - no one was injured.

Two men remote-controlled the aircraft on Sunday morning to make film recordings of the famous church on Breitscheidplatz, as a spokesman for the police situation service announced.

It was not an attack, nobody was injured.

«BZ» and the «Bild» newspaper had previously reported.

"The drone apparently had a weak battery and got stuck in a honeycomb in the Eiermann facade around 1:00 a.m."

Presumably a gust of wind pushed the drone against the bell tower.

There is a no-fly zone around the Memorial Church.

The two 27 and 31-year-olds apparently did not know this, the spokesman said.

You would now have to answer for violating the aviation rules.

The aircraft was confiscated.

Because of the great height of the tower, the fire brigade used a large truck lift with an articulated mast.

"That was quite time-consuming, the operation lasted over two hours," said a fire department spokesman.

Ten forces were therefore in action.

The evening before, the victims of the terrorist attack on December 19, 2016 were commemorated with a service in the church.

The Memorial Church was built from 1891 to 1895.

After its destruction in World War II, the tower was deliberately left as a ruin, a modern building by the architect Egon Eiermann was added later.
