20 December 2020A car bomb exploded in Kabul killing at least nine people.

Interior Minister Masoud Andarabi told reporters that the attack injured about 20 other people, including women and children and a member of parliament, Khan Mohammad Wardak, who was the real target of the attack.



Wardak is not in serious condition, but the death toll could rise.

Afghan President Ashraf Ghani said the Taliban should end violence against civilians and agree to a ceasefire, to facilitate the current peace process.



Minister Andarabi visited the site of the attack, in the Spin Kalay neighborhood, and spoke of terrorism perpetrated by the "enemies of Afghanistan".

The attack has not yet been claimed, but ISIS has claimed responsibility for multiple attacks in the capital Kabul in recent months, including against educational institutions.

Attacks that killed 50 people, most of them students.

Isis who also claimed responsibility for yesterday's missile attacks on the main US base in Afghanistan.
