A social accelerator to empower startups in Abu Dhabi

The Community Contributions Authority launched the first social accelerator program that enhances the impact of existing social institutions by providing the necessary support for the expansion and prosperity of its business within the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.

Six social institutions based from six countries have been selected to join the first round of the virtual initiative, which will focus on mental health topics.

The program encourages social innovation by establishing links between individuals and institutions, with the aim of enabling them to find innovative solutions to pressing social challenges in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi by providing direct programs and quotas for guidance and direction, training and qualification to hone the skills of participants, with the aim of exchanging experiences with institutions and investors.

The "Ma'an" Authority will provide the ability to identify market data and needs and support means of joint cooperation, in addition to providing the necessary office space for work and registering licenses to do business from the Abu Dhabi Global Market, in addition to obtaining priority access to financial funding from the "Together Grants" program.

The program will provide specialized training sessions upon request and in a manner that suits the needs of all participants. The program provides an opportunity to communicate with a network of specialists in the private and public sectors, including major health care providers and insurance companies, in support of the topics concerned.

The first session of the Ma'an Accelerator Program will be held under the title “Mental Health”, which falls within the social priorities identified by the Abu Dhabi Community Development Department, which is considered a rapid response given the community’s need for valuable initiatives that contribute to mitigating the social impacts of the recent health pandemic that has swept the entire world. .

The Ma'an Authority has selected the six existing projects, each of which provides innovative solutions to meet this social challenge. The projects will be subject to an intensive program that extends over a period of three months to expand the scope of their business and services.

The Director General of the Community Contributions Authority "Together", Salama Al Amimi, said: “The launch of the Social Accelerator Program reflects the Authority’s commitment to achieving its main objectives of empowering social institutions in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, encouraging the growth of a thriving third sector in the emirate and addressing social challenges by finding innovative solutions. For the benefit of the people of the Emirate's society ».

She added, "The authority has succeeded in activating the role of social institutions, civil enterprises and public benefit institutions and increasing their number in Abu Dhabi, which contributed to providing society with new job opportunities in the social sector, as well as spreading awareness of the importance of social entrepreneurship and its impact in bringing about a positive transformation."
