Magdeburg (dpa / sa) - Trade unionists have criticized that employees of the state police in Saxony-Anhalt should not receive a corona bonus.

That is a slap in the face of all police officers and employees in the country, who have been monitoring and enforcing the corona restrictions for months, announced the German Police Union (DPolG) in Magdeburg on Saturday.

Police officers are exposed to the risk of infecting themselves and carrying the virus into their families with every deployment.

That is a concrete danger to the life and limb of the officials.

The DPolG called on the black-red-green state government to rethink and to consider a special corona payment.

Even at a moderate height, it could be a motivation and a clear sign, said DPolG country chief Olaf Sendel according to the announcement.

In the collective bargaining negotiations that ended in the autumn, it was agreed that employees of the federal and local authorities would receive a one-time special Corona payment.

The amount set was 600 euros for the lower income groups, 400 euros for the middle and 300 euros for the upper income groups.

When asked, the Ministry of Finance announced that no such bonus was planned for the employees of the country, complained the DPolG.
