Mönchengladbach (AP) - Borussia Mönchengladbach's coach Marco Rose has apologized for the spitting attack by his striker Marcus Thuram at 1: 2 (1: 0) against 1899 Hoffenheim.

In his first statement after the game, Rose found clear words.

«I would like to apologize on behalf of the entire association.

It just doesn't belong on the soccer field.

That goes far beyond the borders.

He's blown his fuses, ”said Rose at the press conference.

Thuram spat in the face of his opponent Stefan Posch and saw the red card (79th).

Hoffenheim's coach Sebastian Hoeneß said he hadn't seen the scene yet.

“But of course we also accept the apology as a club.

It is worthy of all honor to say so clearly here, ”said Hoeneß.

Rose announced that she wanted to have a serious word with Thuram.

“I haven't seen him yet,” said the Borussia coach, who also complained about Thuram's “disservice”.

After the red card, Hoffenheim's winner was scored by Ryan Sessegnon (85th minute).

"Of course I have to say that he is actually a good boy," said Rose.

"He comes from a very good family, is well brought up and has good manners."
