challenging the coronavirus again.

The Local Police of Valencia and the National Police have had to dissolve an illegal party this morning that had gathered residents without respecting the safety distance or the use of masks.

The young men had left their rooms and occupied the common areas of the building in small groups.

This center was already the center of controversy in October, when an Ibizan party held between September 26 and 27 on the roof of the building caused an outbreak with more than 160 infections that forced the suspension of face-to-face classes throughout the Vera campus from the Polytechnic University of Valencia and has carried out a screening with more than 700 PCR to university students.

The Valencian Generalitat Police identified 214 people, who were facing fines between 601 and 30,000 euros, and the Galileo Galilei disciplinary committee opened an information file to clarify all the facts.

The center itself could be fined, although the file is still being processed by the

Department of Justice

.

As then, the events occur again on the weekend, when there are fewer security personnel in the residence, which is privately managed despite being in the facilities of the Polytechnic.

The suspension of classes as a result of the outbreak provoked protests from the rest of the students on campus at the doors of the residence.

Puig announces "strong and immediate measures

Ximo Puig has announced that the Department of Justice is already investigating a new illegal party at the Galileo Galilei Hall of Residence and that "strong and immediate" measures will be taken in the face of the serious "irresponsibility" of both those responsible and the center.

The president recalled that the record of the previous party "is underway" and has not ruled out that among the possible sanctions is the closure.

"What has happened tonight in this college is enormously irresponsible and will have the correlation in the importance of the decisions that are going to be made," he pointed out and had an impact on the fact that "at this moment, all information and there will be a strong and immediate response ".

According to the head of the Consell, "a few people who act from irresponsibility can neither stain the whole of society nor the young people who, in their vast majority, are having an absolutely responsible attitude."

"Today, when there are only a few days until Christmas, we must think about the essence of what Christmas means, what brotherhood is and for that we must act each one of us with all the forcefulness and with all the responsibility," he commented.

Puig has stressed that the previous file "is under way" and "things have to be done in accordance with the regulations" and added that "obviously there will be the corresponding sanctions and when there is recidivism, it is necessary to act more forcefully and in the next hours will be acted ".

"The closure does not correspond to me to say it but to the competent authorities but (the sanction) will be of the utmost forcefulness because it is a serious irresponsibility. The irresponsibility of the people who are responsible for that center is very serious," he assured.

Concentration after returning from drinks

The management of the Colegio Mayor has highlighted that it was not a party organized in the residence facilities, but rather "a concentration of students in common areas of the building when they returned from drinks after curfew" and that they dissolved when he arrived police.

Management sources insist that the students were returning from a leisure area before starting the week of Christmas holidays, pushing the limit of the touch to the maximum, and tried to continue the party in the common areas, but the security personnel of the center tried to stop him.

By ignoring it, they were the ones who called the police.

When the police units arrived, the students went to their rooms and the incident was closed, without any arrests, sources from the center's management have indicated, who have insisted that it was not an organized party.

Ribó: "They will go home for Christmas and they could be a source of contagion"

The mayor of València, Joan Ribó, has dismissed as "serious that it is repeated again" the celebration of a party at the Galileo Galilei Residence Hall during the coronavirus pandemic and has urged the students of the center to make a "reflection" because "in a few days they will go home for Christmas" and can constitute a "major source of contagion for their families."
