The Union in the Bundestag is planning to support the retail trade, which has been shaken by the Corona lockdown, with a “pact for lively inner cities”.

To this end, a “city center fund” is to be set up, which is to be fed by tax money, but also by a new fee for online trading.

In addition, shops that had to close temporarily because of the pandemic are to be helped with more generous bridging aid, quick loans and tax breaks.

In a policy paper that WELT AM SONNTAG has before us, a “parcel delivery for online trading” is required, “the amount of which is proportional to the order value”. This should be collected from the online retailer and paid by him to the tax office. It is therefore up to the provider whether this tax leads to higher prices.
