Rostock (dpa / mv) - Despite the new classification of the Canary Islands as a risk area, the shipping company Aida Cruises continues to offer cruises in the region.

As of Sunday, all of Spain is on the risk list again - which is also associated with a travel warning from the Foreign Office.

Nevertheless, according to the shipping company, trips to the region are still allowed, "which is why our upcoming cruises are taking place in the Canary Islands," as a shipping company spokeswoman announced on Saturday.

Returnees from risk areas must be in quarantine for up to ten days, but can be exempted from this prematurely by a negative test from the fifth day after entry.

All trips of the shipping company take place under the highest safety and hygiene standards, said the Aida spokeswoman.

A Covid-19 test is included in the travel price and a negative test result is a prerequisite for starting the journey.

The shore leave would take place in accordance with all applicable regulations.

The Canary Islands are one of the very few holiday destinations abroad for which no travel warning has yet been issued.

On October 24th, it was canceled due to falling infection numbers.

For some time now, the numbers in the Canary Islands have been increasing again - especially in Tenerife.

Other tour operators in Germany had already shown themselves angry on Friday.

Norbert Fiebig, president of the travel association DRV, called the general travel warning for all islands "incomprehensible".

Industry leader Tui emphasized, "As with the first travel warning in October, we will keep the offer up and guests can continue to travel to the Canary Islands".
