• Government. The tension in the Government explodes with a row between María Jesús Montero and Pablo Iglesias in Congress: "Don't be stubborn"

  • SMI.We can keep his order to Sánchez to raise the SMI and forces him to bypass Calviño to agree with Iglesias

The government coalition is moving towards its first year in Moncloa.

A time in which the discrepancies between the two partners have not only normalized, but are even publicly evidenced as was appreciated this week in the tense conversation that Pablo Iglesias and María Jesús Montero had.

"Don't be stubborn," snapped the Finance Minister to the second vice president.

Iglesias warns the PSOE that in Unidos Podemos they are "big heads" and anticipates new shocks on issues such as labor reform, raising the minimum wage or pensions.

Among the many evidences left by this first year of Government is the clear and almost permanent clash between the economic and social aspects.

United We Can, in a minority position, seeks to leverage force in that debate and, pressing the socialists with the Government pact signed by Pedro Sánchez and Pablo Iglesias, presents all the battle and public pressure that it can exert.

"We are going to continue working because it will be hard and difficult for the government program to be fulfilled. We are going to continue working to ensure that no vulnerable home can be cut off water, electricity or gas; to leave behind the labor reform ; the improvement of wages and the negotiating capacity of workers ... They may tell us that we are very stubborn to work so that the signed government agreements are fulfilled ... Well, yes, we are very stubborn and they voted for that "".

It is the message that Iglesias has sent to the PSOE in the State Citizen Council - the highest governing body between assemblies - to his address at the meeting held this Saturday.

They are questions, all of them, in which the socialist part opposes or stops the intentions of the purple ones.

This week, both Sánchez and Carmen Calvo have sided with Nadia Calviño, reluctant to raise the minimum wage.

The economic sector of the PSOE, both Calviño and Montero, do not see with good eyes at this time the repeal of the labor reform, something that Podemos does want, and which is one of the objectives of Yolanda Díaz, Minister of Labor.

On the subject of pensions, the Minister of Social Security, José Luis Escrivá, proposes raising in the future from up to 25 years in force to 35 the contribution period to take into account to calculate the retirement pension.

A measure that is not in the Government pact and that the purple ones reject.

Despite the fact that at United We Can assume that the approval of the Budgets for 2021 in the coming days may diminish their ability to lobby, they are not willing to show a white flag.

They promise battle in everything that they consider appeals to the Government pact.

"Of course there will continue to be a lot of resistance to the changes that we have to face, but we have many more things to change," said Iglesias, who, once again, has appealed to social movements to mobilize and pressure the PSOE to bend the pulse on social issues.

"Today as yesterday, the pressure from social movements, workers 'unions, tenants, pensioners' platforms, in defense of public services is fundamental for social progress to be achieved and even more so, if possible, in a coalition government in which we are and that is why the usual people are going to declare war on him, "was the reflection of Iglesias.
