On the political level, Jean-Pierre Lacroix called on his Congolese interlocutors for calm and restraint.

To Félix Tshisekedi, whom he met on December 15, he expressed the wish to see the institutional crisis which led to the end of the coalition between Cap pour le changer de la current president de la République and Front commun pour le Congo of Joseph Kabila to

be settled as quickly as possible

.

The DRC cannot afford "

 a serious institutional crisis

", had already declared at the beginning of the month before the Security Council the head of Monusco, Leila Zerrougui.

On the security and humanitarian level, Jean-Pierre Lacroix went to Pinga, in the province of North Kivu, and to Roe in the province of Ituri.

As he explains, "

it is a choice which is dictated by the fact that these are areas where there have been clashes, actions by armed groups, displaced persons and significant economic damage

".

For him, it is essential to tackle the root causes of these armed conflicts.

We must seek to renew the dialogue between the communities, between those who clash, even if it is difficult, then really look at the question of the plunder of economic resources,

" he said.

These are areas that have absolutely impressive wealth.

How can we ensure that this phenomenon is put to a lasting end

”.

He also insisted on re-establishing the country's authority in areas marked by violence.
