The Prime Minister detailed Wednesday before the National Assembly the support strategy for people sick with Covid-19 who must isolate themselves.

A device that is directly inspired by the Covisan experiment launched last spring by Paris hospitals, where teams go directly to patients.

REPORTAGE

After clarifying on Wednesday before the National Assembly the outlines of the coronavirus vaccination strategy, Prime Minister Jean Castex also detailed the support system for sick people who must isolate themselves.

The latter assured that the trail of "compulsory" isolation for people who tested positive for the coronavirus was "not a consensus".

The emphasis will therefore be rather on "enhanced support" for patients.

And the principle is the same as the Covisan experiment launched last spring by the AP-HP, the hospitals of Paris, which turns out to be a profitable strategy.

Test less than 24 hours after a report

The gown, the overcoat, the charlottes, the glasses, the FFP2 mask, gloves, the swabs for the test ... Above all, do not forget anything and check your equipment carefully before each tour.

It is the work of these mobile teams who intervene directly in the homes of patients throughout the Île-de-France to test them and provide them with advice for their isolation.

Julie is one of them and visits patients who may have Covid.

After a visit to the home of a contact case student, this nurse arrives at Monique, aged 82.

In this large house in Saint-Germain-en-Laye lives a couple of octogenarians.

He has had symptoms for two days.

That's what prompted their GP called Covisan.

And less than 24 hours later, Julie tests them at home: "It's unpleasant but it doesn't hurt", reassures the nurse.

5,000 home visits since April

In 24 hours, Monique and her husband will be fixed.

If they are positive, a doctor will call them to give them advice on their isolation.

Monique also begins to broach the subject: "You have started to isolate yourself from one another", she asks?

"No, but there is a fairly isolated room compared to others, we can make different circuits", assures him the octogenarian.

Tailor-made support by the Covisan teams, but above all a profitable strategy.

Since April, 150 people have made 5,000 home visits.

A device that has largely contributed to reducing contamination in Île-de-France.

The department of Paris was even ranked among the 15 departments least affected by the epidemic last month.

A device largely inspired by Covisan

Indeed, according to a study conducted by the Institut Pasteur, 94% of infected people isolated themselves but they did so too late.

Hence the interest in teaching, because it is during the first days that patients contaminate those around them.

The government will therefore extend this device with a clear objective: from January, each person positive for the coronavirus will be offered a home visit.

A nurse will carry out antigenic tests on people who live in the same household, advice will then be given to adapt the isolation each time and logistical support will also be offered if the patient lives alone and cannot do his shopping.

And to cover the entire territory, 1,500 liberal nurses and 3,000 social support workers, in connection with local communities, will be in contact with patients every day in the field.
